History
The Catholic Parent came into existence as an outgrowth of YDisciple, a youth discipleship initiative of the Augustine Institute in Denver, Colorado. YDisciple is a four-year systematic presentation of the faith through a dynamic video curriculum, delivered in the context of small group faith sharing, facilitated by well-trained caring adults and providing support to parents in their role as primary educators in the faith.
Encouragement for Parents
Numerous national studies on Christian youth have revealed that when a parent’s faith life is strong and vibrant, so too is their teen’s. The Catholic Parent wants to do everything possible to encourage parents to pursue their faith and live it out dynamically in their homes, modeling for their teenagers what it means to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ. When parents do this, teens can’t help but want to be disciples too!
Domestic Church
“The Christian home is the place where children receive the first proclamation of the faith. For this reason the family home is rightly called the “the domestic church,” a community of grace and prayer, a school of human virtues and of Christian charity.” Catechism of the Catholic Church 1666
